Border Security Force (BSF) was established in 1965 as one of the prime Central Armed Police Forces with the role to guard India’s international borders during peacetime and to prevent transnational crime.
Age Group- The minimum age to apply for the given positions is 18 years and maximum is 25 years for applicants of General category, 28 years for applicants of OBC category and 30 years
Procedure of Selection :
The applicants are selected after going through two phases. First phase will include Written Examination. Second phase will include Preliminary Screening, Physical Standard Test, Physical Efficiency Test , Personal Interview and Medical Test.

Part-I (Physics) : 60 marks
Part-II (Mathematics) : 60 marks
Part-III (Chemistry) : 30 marks

Syllabus for Written Examination-
Part-I and Part-II : CBSE Intermediate level / State Board of Education
Part-III and Part-IV : History, Geography, General Science and Current Affairs.
Physical Efficiency Test- PET includes 1.6 km race in 6.5 minutes, 3.65 mtrs Long Jump in three chances and high jump of 1.2 mtrs in three chances.

Application Charges- The cost of application is Rs.50 for applicants of General and OBC category which is to be paid by crossed bank draft or postal order favouring General / Comdt / DIG payable at relevant Post Office / SBI.

BSF Exam Pattern 2014 for the posts of ASI Steno & Head Constables
The Border Security Force (BSF) conducts the recruitment exams for the posts of ASI (Assistant Sub Inspectors) Steno, Head Constables and Constable CT (Daftary) every year in the months of February/ March respectively for all the candidates. The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India Border Security Officer invites applications on the following positions from all the eligible Indian male/ female citizens.

Border Security Force (BSF) The candidates should be Intermediate/ Class 12th passed and shorthand in typing for being eligible to the post of Assistant Sub Inspector Steno and Head Constables respectively.
The qualifying age of all the applicants should be not less than 18 years and more than 25 years with effect from the date of closing applications/ 1st January 2014 respectively for this purpose.
The entrance exam for the concerned recruitment is based on objective type questions on the following main topics:
Section I: Hindi/ English Language (20 Marks)
Section II: General Intelligence (20 Marks)
Section III: Numerical Aptitude (20 Marks)
Section IV: Clerical Aptitude (20 Marks)
Total Marks Allotted: 100
Duration of Exam: 1 Hour and 40 Minutes
